The silent period for the National Assembly (NA) commenced from Monday midnight till the voting concludes. According to EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel, any campaigning-related activities to the NA election have been prohibited from midnight of January 22 till the voting process ends.
During this silence period, representatives of any political party, candidates, fraternal organizations of the party, intuitions or bodies bound by the code of conduct are strictly prohibited from engaging in any kind of discussions, interactions, assemblies, conferences and or any other election-related propaganda.
Similarly, the dissemination of messages, information or propaganda materials either in favour or against any candidate or political party, is forbidden in social media, online platforms print media publications or other mediums.
The voting for the election of the members of the National Assembly will start from 9 AM to 3 PM on January 25. Election is being conducted to fill the 19 seats whose six-year term expired. Even though the term of 20 people has ended, the election will take place for 19 seats as one will be directly nominated by the president.
