Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has expressed concern over the woes faced by Nepali youths who were recruited in the Russian Army.

Talking to media persons at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon returning home after attending the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Sunday, he said that the government is concerned towards the issue.

“The government is very much concerned and serious regarding the reports that Nepali youths are recruited in the Russian forces and mobilized in the Russia-Ukraine war. We don’t have such a policy on behalf of the government,” PM Prachanda made it clear.

“The government has no policy to allow Nepalis for their recruitment in the military force in any other countries except for the case in which past agreements were singed with India and United Kingdom.”

The Prime Minister also informed that a diplomatic note has been sent to Russian government in this regard and Foreign Minister N.P. Saud has repeatedly talked about this agenda.

Foreign Minister Saud held talks with the Russian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs at Kampala of Uganda in the sideline of the 19th NAM Summit and urged him to send Nepali youths back home, he said.

The Prime Minister said that talks were held regarding the youths killed in the war and the government has seriously taken the issue of compensation for them.
