Official teaser of Newari film ‘Tiba: The Support’ unveiled, tackles modern Nepali social issues

The official teaser for the Newari film ‘Tiba:’ (The Support) was unveiled at a special programme held in the Heritage Garden, Kathmandu, on Wednesday. This film, which required a dedicated ten-month effort from the cast and crew, addresses contemporary issues in Nepali society in the present context.

The chief guest at the event was Patha Kaji Ranjit, who inaugurated the program by lighting a traditional lamp. Additionally, Bijay Ratna Ansabare, a prominent senior journalist and the first Newari music video director, was also present on the occasion as another special guest.

Depicting the prevailing social landscape in Nepal, the movie was also partially shot in America. The film features a talented ensemble cast, including Sushil Rajopadhyay, Saraswati Manandhar, Krishna Bhakta Maharjan, Sunita Shrestha, Asha Kaji Thaku, Sangha Ratna Shakya, Gautam Das Manandhar, Shristi Maharjan, Manoj Maharjan, and many others.

“Tiba: The Support” boasts a screenplay by Om Shankar Shrestha, with lyrics contributed by Om Shankar Shrestha, Sangha Ratna Shakya, and Rajendra Maharjan. The music for the film is composed by Shiva Shahi and Bhupendra Bajracharya.

Additionally, a song from the movie, titled “Maan Chhanke Sulachwana,” was also introduced during the event. This song is performed by Sarju Ranjit and Deepa Maharjan, with lyrics by Sangha Ratna Shrestha. The music for the song is composed by Bhupendra Bajarcharya and arranged by Firoj Baharacharya. The song’s visuals were captured in the picturesque setting of Sailung.

The film was produced by Sarju Ranjit and Samita Ranjit Shrestha and directed by Ravi Sayami. It explores the compelling narrative of youth’s choices to venture abroad, often leaving behind their families. “Tiba: The Support” is slated for release following the Tihar festival, promising to captivate audiences with its thought-provoking storytelling.
