Pokhara Metropolitan City has honoured 103 year old Prajapati Pokharel, a resident of PMC – 26 as the father of Metropolitan City amidst a function on Sunday. The honour was conferred on him on the occasion of 33rd International Senior Citizens’ Day by wrapping a shawl along with a certificate of appreciation. He also received a purse of Rs. 15,000 on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion chairman of PMC Ward No. 26, Narendra Thapa said, he felt pride while honouring Pokharel and underscored the need to transfer the knowledge and skill possessed by the Father of Metropolitan City to the younger generation people. His life style, food habbit and way of living helped him earn a longer life, Thapa pointed out. There are 52 members in the family of Pokharel including four sons and three daughters.
The Pokharel family, who received the cash award and honoured added Rs. 5,104 to the award money and donated the total amount to the Senior Citizens Day Care Home situated in Ward No. 26 of the municipality.
