The ‘Nepal EV and Nepal Power Light and Electronic Exhibition’ was organized for three days with the aim of providing information about electric vehicles and electrical and electronic appliances available in Nepal. Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet inaugurated the exhibition in which more than 100 companies took part.
Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising, representatives from Alternative Energy Promotion Center, representatives of the Indian Embassy were among those present on the occasion. The exhibition lasted till Sunday, September 3. Media Space Solutions, Futurex Trade Fair and Events, Exhibition and Trade Services India Pvt Ltd and Electric Vehicle Manufacturers and Importers Association of Nepal were the co-organizers.
Inaugurating the fair, Minister Basnet informed that the government has advanced its policies and programs with the aim of promoting the use of electric vehicles and equipment as the country was gradually becoming self-sufficient in energy. The government is striving for the development of the energy sector with long-term vision, she shared. He said that the ministry has taken initiative to develop the feeling among the people that promoting the use of electronic materials means protecting the environment.
The exhibition showcased electric cars, electric scooters, motorcycles, electric bicycles and rickshaws, charging stations, batteries, transmission and distribution materials, energy supply and control devices, house wiring materials, wires, cables and conductors, state-of-the-art switches, LED lighting and various other electronic equipment.
With the people’s attraction towards alternative source of energy demand for electric vehicles in the market is increasing. The confidence of customers towards electronic devices has also increased, according to the organizes. Operating costs of electric vehicles are also lower than those of fuel-powered vehicles. Also, people are becoming aware of the environmental impact of fuel powered vehicles. Therefore, electric vehicles have become the first choice of many customers.
