Six Bangladeshi hostages rescued, 5 Bangladeshis arrested

Police have arrested five Bangladeshi nationals and two Nepalese in connection with abduction of six Bangladeshi nationals in the pretext of demanding millions of rupees in ransom.

They were arrested for taking into custody six Bangladeshi nationals with the assurance of providing attractive jobs to them by sending them to different countries via Nepal, revealed a Nepal Police news bulletin.

Those arrested include Bangladeshi nationals Amir Hussain, 47, MD Moisur, 37, Jehangir Alam, 21, Salim Miya, 38 and Tehmina Begum, 21, and Nepalese nationals Tara Nepali, 27 and Roshani Rai, 38, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Kesi.

The Bangladeshi national were kept as hostage at different places in the pretext of providing them lucrative jobs in different international destinations. The arrestees kept them as hostage at different places after bringing them to Nepal in the pretext of providing jobs and asked ransom up to Rs. 1 million per person from their families, said the police.

The six Bangladeshi nationals rescued by the police from Kathmandu included MD Najmul, MD Iyasim, Ibrahim Hussain, MD Al Amin, Rajon and Rajon Farhad Hussain. They were kept in hostage at Memorial Guest House at Kalimatidol in Kathmandu and a house at Harisiddhi, Lalitpur district. The police have taken the seven arrestees to Kathmandu Metro Police Circle for taking legal action under the organized crime act.
