The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, which was originally scheduled for Monday, has been postponed until Tuesday. The house was postponed following obstructions put by the main opposition CPN UML demanding formation of a high level committee to probe into 100 kg gold smuggling scam.
The HoR meeting has been rescheduled for 1:00 pm on Tuesday, according to Federal Parliament Secretary-General Dr Bharat Raj Gautam.
The lower house session on Monday was supposed to be informed about the suspension of Top Bahadur Rayamajhi as an HoR member, and to be proposed to give approval for sending the ‘Nepal University Bill, 2080 BS’ to the respective committee for clause-wise deliberations.
Additionally, Minister for Law, Justice, and Federal Affairs, Dhanraj Gurung, was scheduled to propose the meeting to add provisions to the working procedures of the Commission on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission on the Investigation of the Enforced Disappeared.
Earlier, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda’ also held discussions with UML Chair KP Sharma Oli on Sunday and Monday to find a way out of the House obstruction, but a substantive agreement could not be reached.
