4 million 76 thousand 481 foreign tourists visited Nepal in 6 months

According to the statistics provided by the Tourism Department, 4 million 76 thousand 481 foreign tourists visited Nepal from January to June 2023. Since the beginning of 2020, the arrival of foreign tourists, which has been declining since the start of the Corona epidemic, has reached a state of ‘recovery’ in 2023. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, this is 83 percent ‘recover’ compared to 2019. 
This year, 55 thousand 74 tourists entered Nepal in January, 73 thousand 255 in February, 99 thousand 426 in March, 98 thousand 773 in April, 77 thousand 703 in May and 72 thousand 250 in June. In June, 38 thousand 845 from India, 8 thousand 470 from America, 4 thousand 343 from China, 2 thousand 442 from Bangladesh, 1 thousand 992 from the United Kingdom, 1 thousand 639 from Australia, 1 thousand 799 from Malaysia, 888 from South Korea, 764 from Japan and 702 tourists from Bhutan have come to Nepal. 
According to the board, a total of 5 million 36 thousand 58 foreign tourists entered Nepal from January to June 2019. Also, during the same period, 2 million 20 thousand 815 foreign tourists came to Nepal in 2020. In 2021 58 thousand 58 and in 2022 2 million 40 thousand 911 tourist visit to Nepal.
Although the number of tourists entering Nepal has been increasing in the last month, tourism professionals are of the opinion that it is necessary to emphasize on the development and operation of tourism infrastructure to make the tourism sector more viable.
