Two killed 26 went missing in landslide and flood in Eastern Nepal

At least two people were killed and 26 people went missing in two separate incidents of flood and landslides triggered by incessant rain in Eastern Nepal.

A man was killed and 21 others went missing in a flood that occurred in Hewakhola river situated in Chainpur of Shankhuwasabha district, according to the police. Eighteen workers of Super Howa Hydropower, an under-construction project, have lost contact in the incident, said the police. Three villagers of Chainpur also went missing following the incident. The area was flooded after a landslide blocked the passage of the river since Saturday night.

In another incident a nine year girl was killed in a landslide in Falelung area of Panchthar district Sunday morning. The girl injured after the landslide buried her house was taken to the hospital where she died while undergoing treatment, said the police. Meanwhile, five people went missing in a flood the flood in the same district, according to the police.

Six people killed, 29 missing in flood and landslides

Six people died in floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall at different places of the country in the past 48 hours. Similarly, six people have been injured and 29 went missing in the natural disaster in different parts of the country. Three persons died in a natural disaster in Taplejung and one each in Paanchthar and Nuwakot and Sankhuwasabha districts, according to the Nepal Police.

Similarly, three persons were injured in floods and landslides in Sankhuwasabha, two in Taplejung and one in Paanchthar. According to the police a total of 29 people—21 in Sankhuwasabha, three in Taplejung and five in Panchthar are still missing in the incidents of landslide and flood. Search for the missing was underway, said the police. Thirty-five houses, 10 huts, 13 bridges, five industries and two government offices suffered damages in the natural disaster. A total of 67 domestic cattle perished while 97 families have been displaced due to natural disasters.
