SC registers case against Prachanda on war time crime

A writ petition has been registered at the Supreme Court (SC) against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and former Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai relating to the decade long war.

Lenin Bista, a former child soldier of the then CPN-Maoist filed a writ at the Supreme Court against PM Prachanda and Bhattarai, claiming that it was a war crime to force minors like him to be used as child soldiers and later forcefully expel them from the camp for being disqualified combatants, according to court sources..

Earlier, the Supreme Court administration had refused to register Bista’s petition. However, a single bench of Justice Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, while hearing the petition filed by Bista against the SC administration, on Friday ordered the registration of the writ.

The date of hearing on the writ petition has been fixed for June 13.
