Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Indira Rana has released a book titled “Between The Mountain and Sky” authored by Maggie Doyne, CNN Hero 2015 amidst a function at Hotel Dwarika, Battisputali, Kathmandu on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion Dy. Speaker Rana said, Doyne is the daughter of Nepal though, she was born in USA, as she did lots of works for the children of Karnali region, which even the government couldn’t do. I have also fed thousands of people on the streets during the time, when Nepal was hit by Covid – 19 despite the obstruction put by the police, she recalled adding, many children at that time called me ‘Aamaa.”
Many people could get inspiration from the book written by Doyne as it illustrates how she helped thousands of homeless and parentless children living in the remote areas of Nepal, remarked chairperson of Hotel Dwarika and renowned tourism enterpreneur Ambika Shrestha delivering a welcome speech on the occasion.
On the occasion CNN Hero and author of the book Doyne recalled her heart-touching experiences while in working for the children of remote areas of Nepal including Kalikot, Dailekh and Surkhet over a span of more than a decade. “The book is like my love letter to the children living in the remote areas of Nepal,” she opined. Doyne is the co-founder of Blink Now and Kopila Valley Foundation based in Surkhet.
