A 22-feet tall statue of Lord Buddha has been installed at Chaurideurali Rural Municiplaity-6 in Kavrepalanchowk district.
The statue was installed and unveiled amidst a function on Sunday coinciding with the 2859th Sonam Lhosar. The Buddha idol was built at the initiative of Dhinimhendo Tamang Utthan Samaj, a local organization, at the cost of Rs 7 million. The government and local donors had provided needed financial support for the same. The statue was unveiled by UML Lawmaker Gokul Prasad Baskota on the occasion of Lhosar cultural celebration.
The erection of Lord Buddha idol in Kavre is expected to help increase inflow of tourists to the area. The government had provided Rs 5 million and donors Rs 2 million for the installation of the idol, according to Samaj chairperson Rajkumar Moktan.
