As per the tacit understanding reached between CPN-Maoist Centre chief and Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal and CPN-UML chairperson K.P.Oli, the UML wil get the key posts of President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives in exchange of making Dahal the Prime Minister for the term of two and a half year in the first round. The two big parties have agreed to make PM from MC and UML turn by turn.
It is speculated that either Chhabilal Bishwakarma or Prithvi Subba Gurung, lawmakers representing the CPN-UML, will become the next speaker of the House of Representatives.
In this context, both Bishwakarma and Gurung have publicly expressed their desire to become the speaker while talking to the party chairman Oli. However, it is not yet known who will gets Oli’s nod.
Former speaker and a confidant of Oli, Subas Chandra Nembang, is learnt to have been lobbying for Bishwakarma. Sources say some people in the party wanted Nembang himself to take the same role again, to which he did not agree.
