Toshima promises to improve health system

Dr Tosima Karki a candidate from Rastriya Swatantra Party has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Lalitpur-3 with huge margin of votes. Thirty three year old surgeon by profession and social activist Karki defeated her nearest rival Amrit Khadka of the CPN-UML in a landslide victory. She casted 31,136 votes in the November 20 election against her nearest rival, who received 12,963 votes. Minister for Energy, Pampha Bhushal who contested the election from the CPN-Unified Maoist stood third with 8,769 votes.

Karki’s election agenda includes access to health at home, women’s empowerment, technical education and employment to the youth.

This is not the victory but a big responsibility you have shouldered upon me, Karki said speaking to a large gathering after her victory. “I consider this as the victory only after I could perform as per my commitments, she said.” “It is because of the love, encouragement and support you have shown to me, that I could win in this election,” she added. Karki said she would raise the voice of the people in the Parliament and contribute towards maintaining good governance, attaining prosperity and systematic development of the country.

Karki is one of the five candidates, who have won election to the HoR from Kathmandu valley representing RSP. Other four candidates of the party have won from Kathmandu district.
