Climate change and environment pollution are my top priorities, remarked Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, who won House of Representatives election from Kathmandu -8 constituency representing newly formed Rastriya Swotantra Party. We have seen the impacts of climate change such as bursting glacier, flood and landslides, 40 year old Shrestha pointed out adding, I will raise voice against these issues in the coming days.
Shrestha is one of the four HoR members representing the RSP elected from the capital city. Shrestha, talking to The Nepal Weekly said that he will dedicate himself for maintaining good governance in the country, checking corruption and generating employment to the youth in the coming days.
“Our party will get recognition as the national party after the election as it will get sizable seats in the parliament and we will not let people down for the voters who have trusted us.”
The voters have been attracted towards young and independent candidates this time as they were tired of decades of dirty politics, corruption and chaotic situation, Shrestha said in response to a question. “I think the people have revolted against the disorder, mis-management and unhealthy politics based on nepotism and favouritism by expressing their anger and frustration through ballot paper,” he pointed out.
