In the capital city Kathmandu, main opposition CPN-UML has been almost wiped out in the recently held HoR election. Ruling Nepali Congress has secured five out of a total of 10 seats, while CPN-UML has got just one seat. However, the newly formed Rastriya Swotantra Party has done miraculous entry by winning four seats in Kathmandu district. Prakash Man Singh, Santosh Chalishe, Gagan Thapa, Pradeep Poudyal and Rajendra K.C. belonging to NC have won from constituencies 1, 3, 4, 5 and 10 respectively. Similarly, RSP’s Sobita Gautam, Shishir Khanal, Ganesh Parajuli and Biraj Bhakta Shrestha have won from constituencies 2, 6, 7 and 8. Krishna Gopal Shrestha of CPN UML has repeated his victory from Kathmandu 9. Five years ago in 2017, CPN UML had bagged six seats out of a total of 10 seats in Kathmandu.
