Speaking at a function organized in Kathmandu to mark the 248th birth anniversary of the national luminary Thapa the Prime Minister said, “during his tenure Thapa led important economic reforms, organized measured system, worked for keeping records of important documents among others”,
The function was organized to present the Bhimsen Thapa Memorial Award by the Bhimsen Thapa Memorial Foundation on Monday.
The Prime Minister on the occasion elaborated the contributions made by Thapa to prerserve the independence of Nepal.
On the occasion, the President of the Foundation Dr. Partiveshwar Prasad Timalsina requested Prime Minister Deuba to make arrangements for the reconstruction of the Silkhana in Lagantole of Kathmandu in its original form.
At the function, the Bhimsen Thapa Memorial Award carrying a cash prize of Rs.100,000 was presented to the Bhakti Thapa Memorial Foundation.
Also speaking on the occasion Dr. Triratna Manandhar, Member-Secretary Lakshman Thapa, and others shed light on the important role played by Bhimsen Thapa in the unification, history and political development of Nepal.
