International Network of Nepalese Journalists (INJA) has decided to honour journalist Deepa Karna of Saptari district and Melamchi Radio of Sindhupalchowk with INJA Rural Journalism Award. As per the decision of the judge panel, journalist Karna and Melamchi Radio will receive each cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and certificates, according to Tanka Panta, central vice president of INJA. Karna has been making contributions through various regional and national media organizations in the promotion and preservation of Maithili language.
Similarly, Radio Melamchi has become the voice of the voiceless local people for a decade. The radio has served the local people by spreading correct information, news and views.
Likewise, INJA has also decided to provide INJA investigative journalism award worth Rs. 1 lakh to Gajendra Budhatholi and provide Intellectual Journalism award carrying Rs. 50,000 cash prize each to senior journalist Kapil Kafle and lecturer in Journalism and Mass Communication, TU Devraj Aryal.
