A three day cottage industry exhibition entitled “Made in Lalitpur” kicked off at Lalitpur Metropolitan City premises on Friday. Lalitpur Mayor Chribabu Maharajan inaugurated the exhibition showcasing handicrafts, food items, jewelry, clothes and silk products produced within the Lalitpur Municipality. On the occasion there were some 45 stalls decorated with various products produced in the municipality.
Lalitpur Metropolitan City provided the space in its premises free of cost to promote cottage and small scale industries in Lalitpur, remarked Mayor Maharjan speaking on the occasion. He also assured to provide the space for free for the purpose of exhibition every weekend.
“From now onward, the small and cottage industries of Lallitpur can showcase their products every Friday and Saturday in the premises of the Municipality office,” he, announced. There were some six stalls occupied by the entrepreneurs who were got skill development training from the Metropolitan City itself. Mayor Maharjan also announced that Lalitpur will soon have night market for domestic as well as international tourists and for the purpose, smart street lights have been installed at four places at present. “We are working with the concept that Lalitpur never goes to sleep,” remarked the Mayor.
The exhibition was organized by Lalitpur Metropolitan City in collaboration with Nepalese Federation of Small and Cottage Scale Industries Lalitpur Metropolitan Committee.
