Nepalese are confident about the fairness of EPS exam – Labour Minister Shrestha

Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha said that the Korean language test conducted under the Employment Permit System (EPS) was effective and reliable. Minister Shrestha, who inspected the Korean language test being conducted at Bhainsepati in Lalitpur, praised the Department of Human Resource Development (HRD) of Korea for making scientific the language test system being conducted by the government. Nepalese people have deep faith in the fairness of EPS examination, said Minister Shrestha.

The branch office under the Department of Foreign Employment (EPS) is conducting language test in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry among those who have applied for visiting Korea for employment purposes. A total of 44,853 youths have applied for employment in Korea in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry and manufacturing groups. There are 10,858 people going to Korea under the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors while 33,995 people are going under manufacturing group. Of the 10,858 people going for agriculture and animal husbandry, 6,597 have already undergone for tests and the tests for remaining 4,261 will start on June 27. Other exams will also be conducted regularly, according to the EPS Korea office.

In 2007, the governments of the two countries agreed to take Nepali workers for employment purposes. The migration of Nepalese workers to Korea started in 2008. In Korea, Nepalese are working in the fields of production and agriculture as well as animal husbandry. Minister Shrestha also informed that the Employment Permit System (EPS), which was suspended since 2020, will be renewed soon.
