The silence period of the local level polls will start from Tuesday midnight.
During at a press meet on Monday, Shaligram Sharma Paudel, spokesperson of the Election Commission, said that the silence period would start from 12 am on Tuesday, May 10.
The voting for local level bodies is slated for May 13.
“As the silence period is starting from Tuesday midnight, the EC urges all the candidates and their fans to remove sponsor posts and the other posts that are against the election code of conduct from the social networking sites, and also not to post any new items in this regard,” asked the EC spokesperson.
He said Nepal Telecommunication Authority has been directed to monitor such posts.
The EC has also banned the use and sale of alcoholic liquors from Tuesday midnight till the voting concludes in the places as mentioned in the election code of conduct.
