February 22, 2022“The decision to accept development assistance is taken by Nepal in terms of our national interest and priority, ” Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said responding to the current developments that emerged with the tabling of the $ 500 million MCC pact in the Parliament on Sunday.
“Nepal has always been pursuing an independent, balanced and non-aligned foreign policy. In pursuant to this policy, as a sovereign country, Nepal has accepted and utilized development assistance as per her national requirement and priority,” reads the statement signed by spokesperson at the ministry Ms. Sewa Lamsal.
The clarification from the Nepal government comes in the wake of verbal war between the United States and China governments over the issue of $ 500 million US grant assistance.
