Good labour relation essential for economic prosperity: Labour Minister

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha said good relations between employers and workers is essential for a country’s economic prosperity . Minister Shrestha said this while talking to members of a delegation from the Federation of Unified Trade Unions who reached the ministry’s office to submit a memorandum.

If we succeed in developing good labor relations between the workers and employers it will help increase national productivity, pointed out Minister Shrestha.

The government is planning to include all formal and informal sector labourers in the social security net with a view to addressing the demands of the labourers, informed Minister Shrestha.  We are constructing specialized hospitals for labourers and bring about structural reforms in Labour Department, Labour Offices and Employment Information Centres, he pointed out.

During the meeting office bearers of the federation submitted a memorandum consisting of 11-point demands that included amendment to the existing Labour Act, making labour and factory supervision system effective, speed up justice providing system and effective implementation of minimum wages programme.
