President, PM pay tribute to Lata

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended condolence on the sad demise of famous singer of India Lata Mangeshkar. “I am saddened after hearing the news of demise of famous singer of India Lata Mangeshkar, who has also given her melodious voice to many Nepalese songs,” the president tweeted. “I offer my heartfelt tribute to the demise of genius Lata Mangeshkar with extraordinary talent,” she added.

She had sang songs for a number of  Nepali films including Maitighar. Thousands of Nepalese have paid tribute to Lata in various social media.

“I am shocked by the demise of Indian  singer Lata Mangeshkar, who has given her voice to dozens of popular Nepali songs,” said Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in his message of condolence. “I pay heartfelt tribute on her demise and extend condolences to her family,” he wrote in his twitter account.
