Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha held meeting with United Arab Emirates’ Ambassador for Nepal Saeed Hamdan Al Naqeel the other day. During the meeting they discussed matters relating to bilateral relations and mutual interest. During the discussion, Minister Shrestha briefed the ambassador about the problems facing Nepalis labourers stranded in UAE and urged him to assist in its solution.
Unauthorized manpower companies, consultants, travels operators, intermediaries and various other stakeholders are working in the UAE for a long time. Nepalese who are doing business make fake demand forms, visit visa by showing false assurance and temptation of employment, Minister Shrestha said.
Minister Shrestha asked for help from the UAE envoy with the hope of getting resolved employment problems of those who reached UAE on paid visit visa until there is a permanent solution for the same. Thus stranded Nepalis have to pay more fees after their visa expires. He also sought amnesty for those who are forced to live in UAE illegally.
Ambassador assured the minister that he would discuss the problems of Nepalis in trouble after he returns back home and expressed his commitment to help find a resolution to the problem.
They also held discussion about organizing a meeting of Nepal-UAE Joint Committee. The ministry has also formed a task force comprising immigration officials and police personnel to resolve the problem on the basis of the complaints received by the ministry in this regard.
