Businessman Laxmi Das Manandhar had passed away at the age of 93. He was well known as a successful business person, social worker and a former member of the National Assembly. He was elected to the National Assembly on behalf of the CPN-UML 20 years ago.
Manandhar had played a key role in the organization of Nepal’s salt trade in the early days.He was the chairperson of Salt Trading Limited for a long period. He also had worked as founder manager of the company when it was established on September 5, 1963. He had performed as the chairperson of the National Federation of Industries and Entrepreneurs of UML.
Manandhar was actively involved in promotion of the Nepal Bhasa and culture.
Nepal Chamber of Commerce had honoured him with Life Time Achievement Award. He is survived by two sons and two daughters. Ishwar Lal Pratisthan, in a statement, mentioned that demise of Laxmi Das Manandhar is an irreparable loss to the business community and activities of Nepal Bhasa and culture.
