Kathmandu experiences coldest weather

The Kathmandu Valley recorded 4.3 degrees Celsius minimum temperature on Monday, the lowest temperature of the year. The temperature in the valley is plummeting every day as the cold season arrives. On Sunday the minimum temperature recorded was 5 degree Celsius.

 Temperature dropped to 5 degrees Celsius and due to this people felt severe cold in the morning, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

On Saturday, the minimum temperature was measured at 5.4 degrees Celsius.

With the drop in mercury, cold has been felt across the country including the Valley, said an official at the department. The temperature will further drop in the coming days, according to the department. The temperature is plummeting by 2-3 degrees Celsius every day.  The meteorologists predict that the Valley’s temperature graph will drop to 0 degree Celsius.

The Department has urged people to take precautionary measures against the cold as mercury is forecast to dip further ahead.

Presently, it is partly to generally cloudy in Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province and partly cloudy in the rest of the provinces. There are chances of light snowfall at a few places in the mountainous region. 

According to the Division, the maximum temperature of the Valley was 19.3 degrees Celsius on Monday. Similarly, Jumla reported the lowest minus 4.6 degrees Celsius while Simara recorded the highest 28.9 degrees Celsius across the country on the same day.
