Nepal government has decided to distribute Electronic Passport (E-passport) from Wednesday, November 17, 2021. A special function is being organized by Department of Passport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday to release the E-Passport.
The Department of Passport, amidst a programme on Wednesday will officially launch the E-Passport at its office at Tripureshwor in the presence of Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka. With this, the government will gradually replace existing machine-readable passports (MRPs) in the next few years. However, in the beginning the department will distribute only limited numbers of e-passports. “We will also continue distributing MRPs side by side,” clarified a staff at the department.
