Avalanche between Tukuche and Dhaulagiri mountains

A massive avalanche has hit the Himalayan area the Kowang, Larjung, and Boksi rivers inThasang rural municipality of Mustang district. According to the District Police Office, the avalanche occurred at around 11:00 am on Sunday.

A landslide has been reported from Manapathi Himal (6,380m) in Thasang area. The avalanche lasted for about 30 minutes.

Due to avalanche, locals living in Kowang, Larjung, Naurikot, BoksiKholaaf Ward -2 Thasang had to flee.  Student and teachers were successfully escaped the incident but some of them get injured in the bid of escaping. Most of the yaks 450 yaks grazing above the settlements were considered to be overlapped the debris, locals say while the settlements remained safe. The huge mass of avalanche slided down was divided by the crest of a hill on its way down, so the effect was divided losing momentum, if not settlements including Naurikot, Larjung and Kowangwould get into avalanche causing huge loss of lives and properties, locals added.
