
The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nepal, Lila Pieters Yahia, has paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.
During the meeting held at the Home Ministry Monday, Minister Aryal expressed gratitude to the UN for its continuous support in Nepal’s initiatives relating to governance reform, climate change and capacity building of local levels, among others.
He also expressed belief that the cooperation with the UN would further strengthen in the days to come. Home Minister Aryal argued that the government had accelerated activities to institutionalize democracy by holding election to the House of Representatives on March 5 in a free and fair environment.
Similarly, UN Resident Coordinator Yahia enquired about expanding further cooperation and collaboration in Nepal’s drug control, border security and human trafficking areas. During the meeting she vowed to continue collaboration with government of Nepal in the days ahead.
