Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called the top leaders of major political parties to work together to make the upcoming House of Representatives election a success.

During a discussion held with the top leaders of three major parties, Nepali Congress, CPN -UML and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) at the Prime Minister’s residence Baluwatar on Saturday, PM Karki urged the parties to participate in the election saying that the government is committed to conduct the March 5 general election as per schedule.

Emphasizing that it is everyone’s responsibility to make the election successful, Prime Minister Karki called for ensuring stable and sustainable democracy by considering the election as the future of the nation. “Let’s make this election successful at any cost. Everyone should participate in it. The government believes that you are ready for the election and is working to develop environment for it,” remarked the Prime Minister, according to the Prime Minister Karki’s secretariat.

Clarifying that the government has provided the necessary resources to the Election Commission and the security agencies, the Prime Minister said that the morale of the security personnel has increased of late.

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and NCP coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ who were present at the meeting agreed with the Prime Minister to make the upcoming House of Representatives election a success, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel, who is also the government spokesperson, told media persons after the meeting.

During the meeting UML chair Oli said his party will participate in the election and urged the government to create a conducive environment, according to minister Kharel. In her response Prime Minister Karki said that the government will create necessary environment for the election including providing security, minister Kharel said quoting the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister said that the government will ensure necessary security for conducting the election on time, according to minister Kharel. Nepali Congress president Deuba and NCP coordinator Prachanda both said that they accord priority to participate in the general election.

It is worth recalling here that it was the first visit of top leaders of the political parties the Prime Ministers official residence at Baluwatar after the Gen Z movement that toppled K.P. Oli led government. Deposed Prime Minister Oli has reached PM’s residence at Baluwatar more than one hundred days after he flew on Army helicopter to escape the attack when the protesters entered Baluwatar and vandalized the PM residence on September 9.

Oli being rescued by Nepal Army in a helicopter from the PM’s official residence Baluwar residence after resigning from the post became viral in social media during the time.
