With March 5 parliamentary election just at the threshold, Nepali voters have to understand the special importance of the poll and determine wisely and in an informed way how to pick up candidates and parties to represent them well and honestly. They should keep in mind four points while making decision: this election is more than a periodic democratic exercise for voters; it has been organized as the only solution to take the country out of a political crisis marked by vacuum in politics, governance and security; it should shape the change as per the aspirations of youths and young martyrs of recent Gen Z People’s Movement; and it should ensure that non-performance, instability and transactional partisan politics of past governments get turned into real-time , conscious government for the interest of the people and the country. As people participate in the electoral process they should look forward with enthusiasm to prepare themselves for the best choice. Proper care should be taken to avoid a wrong choice and evade prospects of being carried away by false populism and bogus promises. Since there are a number of choices voters could pick up wisely analyzing all essential points. The next parliament should produce whatever the current Nepali society requires. The people and country have witnessed various political experiments in the past. They looked fine by themselves but they could not produce to satisfy the fresh generational demand of the time over three decades. Parliamentary election 2026 should emerge as a notable difference in the saga of elections held in the country over time. For this, much depends on how ably people stamp ballot paper next week. To ensure enabling situation for each voter, all politicos, parties, candidates, officials, government and others should be committed to not creating any sort of disturbance throughout the country.
