Including former PM and party chairman K.P.Oli, CPN-UML’s ten office bearers lost the election this time. K.P. Sharma Oli got defeated by Balendra Shah, Prime Ministerial candidate from Jhapa 5 with a huge margin, nearly 50,000 votes.
The party’s general secretary Shankar Pokharel, Vice presidents Bishnu Paudel, Prithvi Subba Gurung an Gokarna Bista also lost the election.
Similarly, deputy general secretary Raghubir Mahaseth, secretaries Sherdhan Rai, Mahesh Basnet, Rajan Bhattarai and Bhanubhakta Dhakal also lost the election.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress president Gagan Thapa, 49, has lost the HoR election from Dhanusha 4 constituency to Amaresh Singh of RSP. Amaresh casted 33,688 votes against his nearest rival Gagan with 22,831 votes, according to the Election Commission. Other senior leaders of the party including NC general secretary Guru Raj Ghimire, senior leaders Shekhar Koirala, Bimalendra Nidhi were defeated in the election.
