
The District Administration Office, Parsa, has issued a prohibitory order in the wake of the tension arising over religious and social issues and the risk of possible clashes.
Prohibitory orders have been imposed in key and sensitive areas of Birgunj Metropolitan City of Parsa district, near Indian border coming into effect from 1 PM on Monday until further notice, said a notice issued by the District Administration Office, Parsa.
“In accordance with sub-section 3(A) of Section 6 of the Local Administration Act, 2028, any kind of gathering, assembly, procession, and demonstration have been completely banned within the designated areas to maintain peace and security,” stated the notice signed by chief district office o Parsa Bhola Dahal.
The ban will be exercised upto the Bus Park area in the east, Sirsia Bridge in the west, Power House Chowk in the north, and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.
The DAO, Parsa, has warned that those found violating the prohibitory order will be strictly punished as per the law.
The prohibitory orders have been imposed so as to maintain peace and harmony, as tension and sensitivity have been rising in the area lately, according to the notice.
A group of Muslims had organized protests, burnt tyres and vandalized the local police post in Birgunj on Sunday to show their protests against vandalizing a mosque in Dhanusha district by some youths on Saturday. A group of youths on Saturday vandalized a local mosque in response to anti-Hindu messages spread in social media by two Muslim youths, who were later taken into custody by the police.
