
The second edition of the Nepal Premier League has commenced at Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium at Kirtipur Municipality with Kathmandu Gorkhas choosing for balling as it won the toss. Prime Minister Sushila Karki inaugurated the NPL amid a grand ceremony on Monday.
The ceremony featured a flower shower from a helicopter. A huge crowd of cricket lovers had thronged the TU Cricket stadium. Defending champions Janakpur Bolts are facing home team Kathmandu Gorkhas in the opening clash of Nepal Premier League Season 2. The League will run until December 13, with a total of eight teams in fray. The winner takes home Rs 11 millions, while the first runner-up bags Rs 5.1 million, the third-place team will get Rs 2.5 million. Rs 1.5 million will be awarded to the team securing fourth-place. Meanwhile, Kathmandu Gorkhas has won the inaugural match of 2nd edition of the Nepal Premier League by five wickets against the defending champion Janakpur Bolts.Janakpur Bolts had given a target of 131 runs to Kathmandu Gorkhas for the win in the match. Kathmandu Gorkhas met the target in 18 overs losing only 5 wickets. The Janakpur had made a total of 130 runs losing six wickets in 20 overs
