Nepal government has decided to provide Saturday and Sunday as weekly holiday. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday at Singhdurbar secretariat took a decision to this effect. Earlier, only Saturday was holiday in Nepal at government offices. The decision for two-day weekly holiday was taken in view of difficulty in smooth supply of petroleum products owing to war in West Asia.
“The Cabinet decided to provide two-day, Saturday and Sunday, as weekly holiday effective from Monday, April 6, for all government offices and academic institutions and the office hour will be 9-5,” said Sasmit Pokharel, the government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Science talking to media persons after the cabinet meeting.
