Three distinct trends have made Prime Minister Balen Shaha’s government different from the 14 governments formed over the past two decades.

“One of them is the action-mode from day one as compared to the modality of pledge and rhetoric in previous times,” said a former senior parliamentarian.

“The other is – all ministers’ collective clarity of what they should do in their ministries right from day one to accomplish things pledged in the RSP election manifesto. None in the Balen Council of Ministers wasted time in celebrating their appointment to ministries.”

“The third is: visibly clear path that the Council of Ministers should pursue and achieve in first 100 days. Absence of collision of personal interest among ministers has further energized the focused mode of operation in government, noted a media analyst.

A senior politico who failed to be elected this time described the three-point trends as the result of a single party majority government which until now politicos felt “impossible under the present constitution.”

A professional broadcaster compared the initial trends of the new government as distinct from the past ones. “In the past news readers would be busy in news on felicitation-functions “Swagat Samaroha” and speechifying-race, this time, they are busy reporting action by ministers.”

According to some voters in Kathmandu, the new government has impressed people in its initial days. “May it keep it up into future and create a legacy of its kind,” they wished.
