Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Friday took an update from the Election Commission (EC) regarding preparations for the upcoming general election scheduled for March 5. The prime minister held discussions with EC commissioners and other senior officials at her official residence in Baluwatar, where she was briefed about the progress of election-related work, according to the prime minister’s secretariat. Preparations to enforce the election code of conduct were also discussed on the occasion.
During the meeting acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari updated the Prime Minister regarding the preparations made by the commission for the upcoming elections. He also informed the Prime Minister that the commission will enforce the election code of conduct starting from January 17. Meanwhile, the commission said that it will control the possible spread of negative message and activities through the social media aimed at influencing the March 5 elections.
