Academicians, cultural experts, tourism entrepreneurs and religious leaders from Nepal and India have underscored the need to forge cooperation, collaboration and engage in cultural dialogue between the two neighbouring countries to promote tourism, build peace and develop brotherhood. Speaking at a ‘Nepal – India Cultural Dialogue’, in Kathmandu on Wednesday they stressed on the need to further strengthen cultural unity and cooperation between India and Nepal by promoting Sanatan Dharma, which binds together the people of the two countries.

Former Science Minister Ganesh Shah said, if any issue emerges in the relations between the two countries that can be sorted out through cultural dialogue. Let’s forget about politics and ideologies, that divide us, but lets focus on Sanatana dharma, which brings us together, he pointed out. The ancient scriptures like Veda, Upanishad and Puranas which we inherit from our ancestors bring us together as they emphasize on mutual discussion, harmony and understanding, Shah said.

If the two countries Nepal and India having common culture, tradition and religion come together we can spread the message of universal brotherhood and world peace, he remarked.

On the occasion Suman Ghimire, manager at Nepal Tourism Board advised to promote spiritual tourism through joint efforts between Nepal and India by connecting various religious sites situated in Nepal and India through introducing Buddhist Circuit, Ramayan and Mahabharat Circuits. As Nepal is endowed with various spiritual, cultural and natural heritages, there is immense potential to attract a large number of Indian tourists, he pointed out. India is the biggest tourism market for Nepal as it generates hundreds of thousands of tourists every year, he maintained adding, collaboration in tourism sector can benefit people of both the countries.

The programme organized by Global Peace Foundation in association of Nepal Tourism Board was attended by over one hundred participants from Nepal and India.
