Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has initiated an awareness campaign for disaster risk minimization in collaboration with various national and international organizations. NCC chairman Kamalesh Kumar Agrawal and Professor of Osaka Metropolitan University, Osaka Japan Ikuta Eisuke amidst a programme in Kathmandu on Sunday released a disaster risk reduction handbook. The handbook was prepared by Nepal Chamber in association with Nepal Emergency Shelter & Disaster Prevention Education Aid and Urban Resilience Research Centre, Osaka Metropolitan University, Osaka Japan.
The handbook includes subjects such as preparedness against possible damage and destructions due to earthquake, flood, landslide among others, disaster relief management and construction of temporary settlements.
THere is a need for collaboration among the government, private sector and local community for building a safe future keeping in mind the risks associated with the possible natural disasters, remarked NCC chairman Agrawal.
