Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has requested all the citizens to cast votes confidently, as the government ensures full proof security for the upcoming election to the House of the Representatives scheduled for March 5.

Talking to the National News Agency (RSS) on Sunday, Home Minister Aryal said, “The main priority of the government is to hold the election on the stipulated date. We have reinforced security for impartial election and request all to cast their votes in a peaceful manner and without any worry.”

“Activities are being carried out through command post centre related to election and election cells have been mobilized through the mechanism envisioned by integrated security plan,” he said adding, “the mechanism analyzes daily situation, necessity and challenges.”

Responding to a question, the Home Minister said that some minor incidents occurred in recent period would not have any impact on the election, as the administration has been handling carefully. He clarified that inmates fled during Gen Z protests and the looted weapons were no longer a security threat. “Most of the fled inmates had already returned to jails and looted weapons recovered.” “We took the responsibility of holding fair election and handing over power to the elected government through democratic process. So, there is no chance of postponing the election,” maintained the Home Minister. “We have completed all preparations required for holding election in a fair and peaceful environment.”

“No one should avoid the election as the constitution has provision to hold election within six months after dissolution of the parliament,” he said adding the incumbent government has been carrying out activities keeping the election as the top priority.

“This government was formed to fulfill the constitutional vacuum and to fully restore the constitutional system. A unique situation created this government,” he explained, adding that the Cabinet members had taken oath of protecting and acting in line with the constitution.

He further reiterated government does not budge from its stand and responsibility of holding the HoR election on the scheduled March 5. Our intention and honesty lies in successful conduct of HoR election, Home Minister Aryal added.

In addition to its concentration in election, other priorities are restoration of rule of law and good governance, and prompt and smooth service delivery, he pointed out.

Home Minister Aryal sought cooperation from all sides to hand over power to the forthcoming democratic government. He also reminded that present atmosphere resulted after political consensus to give exit to the vacuum following the Gen Z movement.     

The election would give an opportunity for citizens to select right persons and consolidate democratic system, he pointed out. “We urge all citizens to exercise their rights confidently.”
