The Central Committee meeting of the opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has rejected the resignation tendered by NC President Gagan Kumar Thapa during its meeting on Monday.
The CC meeting of the NC held at the party’s central office in Sanepa decided to reject Thapa’s resignation submitted on March 17, informed acting Chief Secretary of the party, Krishna Prasad Dulal.
Dulal said that the CC meeting rejected Thapa’s resignation, citing the vital responsibility of holding the 15th general convention of the NC.
Thapa, who was elected to the post of party president during the special convention, had resigned from the post on moral ground after the oldest party secured just 38 seats in the 275 seat House of Representatives during the March 5 general election.
