The Hong Kong government has officially removed the mandatory transit visa requirement for Nepali passport holders traveling through Hong Kong International Airport. The new rule will take effect from November 15.
According to the Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong, this decision follows continuous diplomatic efforts and formal requests made by Nepal. The transit visa rule had been enforced since June 2005, causing inconvenience for Nepali travelers using one of the world’s busiest airports.
With this restriction now lifted, Nepali passengers transiting through Hong Kong—whether traveling to other countries or returning to Nepal—are expected to experience a smoother and more convenient journey. This move is also seen as a positive step toward strengthening relations between Hong Kong and Nepal.
