Senior leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Prakash Man Singh has said that the party would participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for March 5, 2026. He termed as irrelevant the call made by a section within the party for convening a special general convention at present.

Speaking at a programme organized at Shobhabhagawati to mark the 111th birth anniversary of the Supreme Commander of the People’s Movement of 1990 Ganesh Man Singh, he said the Nepali Congress believes in democratic norms and systems. He pointed out that the party’s priority is to go to the people and earn their trust through elections as a way to resolve the current crisis facing the country.

“The party is engaged in internal preparations to address the demands of the Gen Z movement,” he said, underscoring the need to incorporate the ideas, energy, and aspirations of the new generation into the party’s structure. Singh also ruled out the possibility of convening the party’s new general convention before the parliamentary election.

NC leaders, cadres, journalists and local residents, who gathered at Sobhabhagwati on Monday paid tribute to the veteran democratic leader by garlanding his statue.
