The Nepal Weekly The vehicular movement has been halted at the Birgunj-Raxaul border point between India and Nepal as the forces of both the countries sealed the border stepping up security ahead of the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for November 11.
India-Nepal border points have been closed for 72 hours at various points of Southern Nepal as part of intensified security measures for the polls, security agency sources said.
“The election is being conducted on November 11, in Bihar, India. Therefore we have halted vehicular movement along the border due to security reason, confirmed Heramba Sharma, Superintendent of Police at Mahottari District Police Office.
“All border points in Mahottari district have been sealed,” he said adding the border points were closed from 6 pm Saturday till the Bihar elections are over.
