Minister Kharel discusses economic cooperation with Srivastava

Indian ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava met with Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel at the ministry’s office at Singhdurbar on Wednesday. During the meeting the two discussed historic relations existing between the two neighbouring countries, bilateral cooperation and current situation.

The discussion also featured projects being implemented in Nepal under India’s assistance and the priority set by Nepal government, according to sources close to the ministry. During the meeting minister Kharel, who is also the spokesperson of the government, informed the Indian ambassador that conducting the forthcoming general election in a free and fair manner, checking corruption and promoting good governance are the present government’s top priorities, the ministry’s sources said.

The government has initiated tripartite dialogue among the government, Gen Z youths and representatives of the political parties with a view to creating a conducive environment for March 5 general election,” minister Kharel informed ambassador Srivastava at the meeting.

On the occasion ambassador Srivastava congratulated Kharel on his appointment as the minister for communication, and expressed India’s commitment to provide assistance to Nepal as per its need. “Government of India is willing to provide financial and technical assistance to Nepal for the country’s economic transformation and attaining prosperity,” the ambassador said, according to the ministry sources.
