Deuba leaves for Singapore for treatment

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba accompanied by his spouse Arjzu Rana Deuba is leaving for Singapore on Monday night for further medical treatment. Deuba couple was scheduled to depart depart for Singapore at 9 PM, according to party sources.

Former PM Deuba was undergoing medical treatment after he and his wife Arzu were assaulted at their Budhanilkantha residence on September 9 during the second day of the Gen Z protest. Security personnel had rescued Deuba couple and rushed them to a military hospital for medical treatment soon after the incident.

Deuba is learnt to have received 12 stitches on his neck and head following the attack. He has mostly remained away from the public scene since the incident, making his first brief appearance only on October 14 at the party office at Sanepa. Deuba had designated NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka as the acting president of the party. Deuba said he would retire from the active politics after the next general convention of the party scheduled for next month.
