Marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and its neighboring and friendly country, China a joint painting exhibition has kicked off in Kathmandu today to mark on Saturday.
The painting exhibition was inaugurated by former Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song.
The exhibition was jointly organised by Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, organized by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Silk Road Cities Alliance and China Culture Center Nepal.
On the occasion, former Minister Koirala said that this exhibition, apart from politics, will connect the hearts of the people of the two countries. She said, “This exhibition will not only connect art and culture but also help make the relationship between the two countries deeper and more intimate.”

The chancellor of the academy Naradamani Hartamchhali, expressed confidence that the art exhibition organized on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China would play a helpful role in strengthening cultural and diplomatic relations. He opined that art is not just a means of expressing beauty but also a bridge to unite.
Chinese Ambassador Song said that Nepal-China relations are based on mutual respect, cooperation and partnership. He expressed his happiness to see artists from both countries on the same stage and expressed the view that such programs should be continued in the coming days.

The exhibition features artworks by chancellor Hartamchhali, former chancellors Kiran Manandhar, KK Karmacharya, vice chancellor Lalkaji Lama, academic council members Pradeep Adhikari, Sauraganga Darshandhari, Dineshwor Mahato, Sanjay Bantawa, Aruna Hingmang and other artists. It also includes artwork by Chinese artists. That includes 44 works by Nepali artists and 60 by 15 Chinese artists.
Member Secretary of the academy Devendra Kumar Kafle Thumkeli also spoke on the occasion on the painting showcased and the artists involved.
The exhibition will run until 16th August.
