Bhatbhateni Supermarket has handed over a newly constructed building costing Rs 95 million to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) at Maharajgunj, Kathmandu marking the company’s second major donation to the hospital.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Monday, inaugurated the new Extended Health Services (EHS) building on Monday by. Bhatbhateni owner and managing director Min Bahadur Gurung handed over the key of the building to the TUTH management committee on the occasion. The building, constructed within the hospital premises, was funded and built by Gurung. The facility was formally handed over to Hospital Director Dr Subash Acharya.
This is the second building Gurung has gifted to the hospital. In 2011, he donated an emergency ward building in memory of his late parents, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 130 million. With the new facility, Gurung’s total contribution to the hospital amounts to around Rs 235 million. Speaking at the event, Gurung said that his philanthropic efforts stem from the values instilled by his late mother and a spiritual mentor, both of whom emphasized that wealth is meant for public welfare. Gurung said he finds deep satisfaction in giving back to society and expressed readiness to continue supporting the hospital in the future.
