Jojiju couple bags Chinnalata Award in the singing category

On the occasion the 103rd birth anniversary of veteran lyricist Ramola Devi Shah ‘Chinnalata,’ the 43rd Chinnalata Music Award 2082 ceremony was organised in Kathmandu on Sunday. Speaker Devraj Ghimire, the chief guest of the event said that the contribution of the creators who have dedicated their lives to the field of Nepali songs and music is invaluable, and expressed his belief that such honours inspire future generations.

Speaker Ghimire presented certificates of appreciation along with cash prizes to awarded personalities for their outstanding contributions in four categories of music. This year, senior lyricist Rajendra Rijal has been awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a certificate in the song composition category. Achyut Prasad Phuyal (Abhas) has been awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a certificate in the music composition category. In the joint singing category, senior singer Rambhakta Jojiju and Itu Jojiju have been jointly awarded Rs. 1 lakh and certificate of appreciation. Likewise, S.D. Yogi has been awarded the Youth Talent Award with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 along with a certificate of appreciation. The award distribution programme was attended by notable personalities of Nepali music industry, artists, media representatives and music lovers. The Chinnalata Award, which was started in 1982 (2039 B.S.) with the aim of honouring creators who contribute to the Nepali song and music, was initially awarded to lyricists. Since 1984, this award was expanded including creators in the singing and music categories. Since 1989, awards to one lyricist, one musician, and a singer has been carried out every year.
